UMD Study Abroad Program Fund

University of Minnesota Duluth

This fund provides scholarships and aid to support students, faculty, and staff to obtain an international experience through the study abroad programs offered at UMD.

One of the greatest concerns students have about studying abroad is the cost. Despite the fact that UMD staff do our best to reduce costs while providing an excellent international experience for UMD students, there are still a variety of costs involved to enrich one's learning through a study abroad program. We invite you to help our students have these life-changing experiences through a donation of your choice. Funds received are used to help students through our growing pool of scholarship funds. Please do what you can to help our students study abroad and become global citizens.

Notes of gratitude from students:

To the Study Abroad Scholarship Committee,

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and support of study abroad. I am thrilled to receive this scholarship, which will greatly assist me during my time abroad.

Studying abroad in Hamilton, New Zealand is a dream come true for me. As a middle child of two teachers, financial aid is the reason I can afford college. Without support from the study abroad scholarship committee, New Zealand would not have become my reality and instead remained just a dream. New Zealand allows me to experience an incredible natural environment while also taking environment-specific courses related to my degree.

Thank you again for your generous support, it is literally the world to me.

Sincerely,
Madelyn

Dear Study Abroad Scholarship Committee,

After learning I was awarded a UMD Study Abroad Scholarship, I felt such a sense of pride in how far I've come and how close I am to enjoying an experience of a lifetime. I want to thank you for giving me this honor and helping me participate in the Nordic Art & Design faculty-led program in Denmark and Sweden.

As I've progressed through UMD's Graphic Design program, I've realized that I found my passion. It excites me to think about the paths I could take, such as designing book covers or illustrating children's novels. This program will allow me to explore these interests as well as an unfamiliar culture where I could branch out beyond the screen of my laptop.

I hope to return to Duluth with stories to tell, new friendships, and a new outlook on creating. Thank you again for your generosity and I look forward to sharing my experience with the study abroad office!

Sincerely,
Cleo
